Trudy Dalgleish

Lighting Designer

Trudy studied technical production at NIDA and has won numerous awards, including the Helpmann Award for White Devil, Entech Award and the John Truscott Design Award for Excellence and Best Lighting Design for Eureka, and Hairspray at the Green Room Awards and in 2024 at the Annual OperaChaserawards she won Outstanding Lighting Design for Eucalyptus.

Trudy has worked extensively with most companies around Australia including Opera Australia, Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Dance Company. 

She is best known for her work in commercial musical theatre both in Australia and overseas. She has worked in the West End and on Broadway.

Trudy’s latest designs included The World of Wearable Art in Wellington, Grease,Australian tour Crossroads Live A Cat’s Attic, the Cat Stevens Australian and international tour, The Tap Pack on London’s West End, Mousetrap and The Odd Couple for Crossroads Live, Turn of the Screw, Macbeth and Pirates of Penzance for SA Opera, Eucalyptus and A Little Night Music for Victorian Opera.

International engagements have included the lighting design for City of Friends (Millennium Entertainment in Bergen, Norway); King and I (Broadway Asia); The World Goes Round (LaSalle, Singapore); the Opening of the Arab Games in Doha (DAE); and Certified Male and Eurobeat in the West End (Glynn Nicholas Group) and Steel City Radio City Music Hall NY (Sydney Theatre Company).
